The Sweetwater County Historical Museum is excited to present Angie Quintana Bennett’s "Visual History of Home & Heritage" at our museum beginning Tuesday, September 15.
Angie is a watercolor and acrylic artist showcasing her Hispanic heritage and love for the natural world through landscapes and portraits. This exhibit kicks off the museum's celebrations of Hispanic Heritage Month and will be up through November 7 for the museum's Día de los Muertos events. Visit the museum to see her artwork highlighting Mexican culture in her portraits and painting studies.
"I strive for a cohesive balance of design and color, using shapes and patterns to create a compelling visual statement. This process takes several painting sessions and ongoing re-evaluation," read's Angie's artist statement. "My paintings develop in layers of shape, color, and pattern, and I continue working until the design feels complete, with nothing more to add or remove."
Born in Texas and growing up in New Mexica, Angie has called Green River home for decades. Her paintings are inspired by nature, but also the many places she has traveled, like Mexico, Costa Rica, Greece, Spain, and many more. Angie has an associate from Western Wyoming College and has studied art techniques from around the world. She has taught art classes at the college and been in several juried shows and exhibitions in Sweetwater County, Wyoming, and across the region.
The exhibit can be viewed for free at the Sweetwater County Historical Museum located at 3 E. Flaming Gorge Way in Green River. Our museum is free to visit and is open 9am - 5pm Tuesdays-Saturdays.
