3rd Grade History Fair

Step into history with your students.

The museum hosts an interactive History Fair that brings history to life through hands-on stations and activities.

Thank you for another successful History Fair in 2026!

Who Attends

We welcome nearly 600 public, private, and homeschooled 3rd grade students on an annual basis during May. We hope to see every student across our towns and rural communities visit the museum during this time.

What Students Experience

Students explore the museum with a guide and learn about historic industries in Sweetwater County from many dedicated volunteers. We have people dressed up as mountain men and railroad workers, students make butter, and much more. "My students loved it. They said it was the best field trip they have ever been on!"

Teachers:

In January you received communication from Laura Dale, Public Engagement Coordinator, regarding your schedule to attend History Fair. If you teach 3rd grade in a public, private, or homeschooled setting and DID NOT receive an invitation, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to reserve your class’s spot.

And a reminder: Teachers must reserve transportation for their students themselves, the museum does not schedule buses. A lunch break is not included as we have a short time to fit in all the students across both districts.

In May you received a confirmation email from Laura regarding your time slot that included a document about what to expect, bus driver instructions, and a schedule of the day. We encourage you to read through that document to make your History Fair experience run smoothly. Thank you!
